Mark Frayman

Mark joined Orion in late-2022 to establish Orion Industrial Ventures, a dedicated new investment platform within Orion focused on emerging technology companies in the minerals, low-carbon materials and industrial energy sectors.

Prior to Orion, Mark was Head of BHP Ventures, a leading metals and mining corporate venture capital within the BHP Group, the world’s largest diversified natural resources company.  Having re-joined BHP in 2019 to form BHP Ventures, Mark led the design, establishment and scale-out of the investment team and portfolio, which includes ~20 holdings diversified across minerals discovery (e.g. KoBold Minerals), minerals extraction (e.g. Jetti Resources, Summit Nanotech), energy (e.g. Fervo Energy, Antora) and downstream materials (e.g. Boston Metal, Electra).

Mark has degrees in Law (First Class Honours) and Commerce from the University of Melbourne, and has previous experience in mergers and acquisitions investment banking at UBS, venture capital with Tiger Global, and overseeing a diversified private and public market investment portfolio as Chief Investment Officer of Kin Group USA, the family investment vehicle of the Geminder-Pratt family.
